Today was a happy day. The CIE results came out yesterday and we gave them to the students today. Normally the school posts out the results, but we decided to see if we could make a bit of an occasion of it and get them to come in for them. It worked. When I taught in the UK this was the norm, and it is great to see the students' reactions. More importantly though we can give them advice there and then if they need it.
I am so proud of my A and AS Level Literature classes. They have been a pleasure to teach and they did so well. Of course there were a few surprises; the students who do nothing all year and then get an A, plus the odd one who works hard and gets only a D grade. But exam results will always be that way.
Now, I have to analyse the results...and that is nowhere near as much fun as celebrating with my students!

New kid on the block
After attending ULearn for the past two years I have finally got round to writing a blog with the intention of reflecting on my own teaching and learning and discussing ideas with other people.
The big plan is to develop a class blog with my 3rd form class next year...fingers crossed; if I can do it a group of 30 thirteen year olds will definitely be able to do it.
So, this is just the beginning...
